Within a three neutrino framework, the experimental signals given in the table are traditionally understood as follows. The parameter space is determined by two mass splittings and three mixing angles. One mixing and mass splitting is determined from the solar neutrino data, which is interpreted as the MSW conversion of e , in the sun, with large mixing and mass splitting O 10-5 eV2 ; . The other mass splitting and a second mixing angle is determined from Super-K atmospheric data, which is interpreted as the vacuum oscillation of , with large mixing and mass splitting O 10-3 eV2 ; . The limit on the third mixing angle comes from the CHOOZ experiment sin2 213 0.1. The combination of these limits is illustrated in figure 1a. The constraints, however, are significantly modified with the new interactions considered here in HDM. This is illustrated in figure 1b. The limits on e disappearance in HDM are derived from KamLAND, with the approximate allowed range 10-5 eV2 m2 10-3 eV2 , which is much less restrictive the limits from SNO 6.5 10-5 eV2 m2.
Tation of a type I ECG spontaneously or after provocation and unmasking with a intravenous antiarrhythmic drug test according to the criteria of the Brugada consensus conference. Conventionally the ECG electrodes are positioned standardized in the fourth intercostal space parasternally for V 1 and V2. Aim of the actual study was to examine whether additive electrode positions one and two intercostal spaces above are of additional value in identification of patients with a Brugada syndrome. Patient and methods: Patients with a Brugada syndrome are examined with conventional and additive electrode positions one and two intercostal spaces above either for the resting ECG and for intravenous drug testing ajmaline ; . Results: At all from 16 34 consecutively examined patients with a Brugada syndrome mean age 47 + 12 years ; presented no diagnostic index ECG. After performing an ajmalin challenge further 11 patients showed a diagnostic Brugada ECG. In the remaining five patients a diagnosis of a Brugada syndrome could only be made together with an analysis of the ECG with the additional higher positioned leads. Out of these five patients four patients had a history of syncopes, one patient had a history of ventricular fibrillation. Clinical implication: 1. With conventional precordial lead positions during routine ECG recording and intravenous drug testing patients with a Brugada syndrome could be potentially overlooked. 2. Consulting additional higher precordial leads in 5 16 patients the diagnosis of a Brugada syndrome could be made. 3. For improvement of diagnostic accuracy of the ECG in the examination of patients for exclusion of a Brugada syndrome additional electrodes at higher intercostal precordial positions should be routinely used.

It was claimed that the utility was at fault for not quickly telling emergency crews that a downed power line on the wreckage was dead. A dissenting judge in the 2-1 ruling by the Missouri Court of Appeals called the majority's opinion "clearly against public policy, " with "potentially dire consequences." The ruling sided with the teenagers' parents, who argued that emergency responders, mistakenly believing the downed line was energized, were kept from getting to and treating the trapped 19-year-old victim for 30 minutes. That delay was said to have cost their daughter her life. Two other teenagers in the car died at the scene of the September 1998 crash. INTRODUCTION Vibrio tapetis is the bacterium responsible for brown ring disease BRD ; , which affects the Japanese clam Ruditapes philippinarum Paillard & Maes 1990, Borrego et al. 1996a ; . This species of clam was introduced into France as an aquaculture species in the 1970s. The disease appeared in 1987 in Brittany. It is characterized by a brown conchiolin deposit between the edge of the shell and the pallial line Paillard et al. 1989, 1994 ; . The major site of infection of V. tapetis is in the extrapallial space, and the bacterium is mainly located on the surface of the mantle epithelium and on the periostracal lamina Paillard & Maes 1995 ; . The effects of inoculation of V. tapetis into the pallial cavity on immune defense parameters have been well studied in both R. philippinarum and R. decussatus. The immune responses to challenge by pathogenic bacteria were first characterized in the hemolymph of R. philippinarum Oubella et al. 1993, 1994, 1996 ; , whereby hemocyte
Studies investigates only three aspects of sexual life: pleasure from sexual intercourse, discomfort during sexual intercourse and habit. We are aware that our study has some limitations. Patients included in the study underwent laparoscopy in a referral centre for the treatment of endometriosis, and not surprisingly over 85% of the patients had rASF stage III IV. Obviously, the characteristics of sexual life of this group of women may not be identical to those of all patients with endometriosis. Another possible criticism of our study is the fact that the determination of sexual function using a questionnaire may be difficult, and we did not use the complete DSFI which has been psychometrically validated Derogatis and Melisaratos, 1979; Herold, 1985 ; . The length of the questionnaire, however, has made it unsuitable for routine clinical practice. In light of this, we used a questionnaire based on the Sexual Satisfaction Subscale of the DSFI, followed by the GSSI and by additional questions on the characteristics of DD; this questionnaire has previously been used in other studies Ferrero et al., 2005; Ferrero et al., in press ; . A further possible criticism concerning our study is that this was not a randomized placebo-controlled study; therefore, a placebo effect of surgery on DD and sexual life cannot be excluded. However, it seems unlikely that this placebo effect may persist at one year from surgery invalidating the results. A strength of our study is that the patients using hormonal contraception were excluded from the analysis. This exclusion criterion is particularly relevant because oral contraception not only can improve DD in women with endometriosis but it can also affect sexual function Vercellini et al., 2002; Caruso et al., 2005; Guida et al., 2005; Vercellini et al., 2005 ; . In conclusion, the current study provides evidence that surgical removal of endometriotic lesions not only improves DD but also the quality of sex life. Future investigations should determine whether these improvements persist at long-term follow-up. In addition, it would be interesting to compare the improvements in quality of sexual life determined by surgery with the effects of medical treatment alone and cinacalcet.

Obesity is a well documented risk factor for endometrial cancer Folsom et al. 1989 ; . Ground in a mortar, and 200 mg of sample was transferred to a reaction vial containing 4 mL of the same solvent. Capsules and coated samples were refluxed at 60C for 60 minutes and then shaken for 12 hours. The samples were allowed to settle and then the supernatant was transferred to a permanent vial. This supernatant was either analyzed without further dilution or with a 1: 5 dilution with a methanol-water solution 80: 20 ; if the concentration was too high for the quantitative assay. Thin-layer chromatography was performed using Macherey-Nagel Durasil-20 UV254 10 20-cm plates Macherey-Nagel GmbH, Du ren, Germany ; , with a mobile phase of ethyl acetate, formic acid, acetic acid, and water in a 100: 11: ratio. Development was vertical with chamber saturation. Detection was performed with glycol reagent at UV 366 nm. For quantitative analysis, standards of cichoric acid and echinacoside were obtained from the Labors Addipharma division of PhytoLab in Hamburg, Germany. Both standards were processed with the samples on each TLC plate. Reflective absorbance from the TLC plates was measured and compared with the intensity of the prepared standard curve to provide a proportional indication of weight in milligrams of constituents. The detection limit of the echinacoside was 0.13% for the pill forms and 66 g mL for tinctures, with a procedural SD of 0.2 mg. The detection limit of cichoric acid was 0.05% for pill form and 24 g mL for the tinctures, with a procedural SD of 0.1 mg. Cichoric acid and echinacoside levels for 2 samples were below the detection limit, and while there was pattern present for identification, these samples were excluded from the quantitative comparison. STATISTICAL ANALYSIS All analyses were performed with SAS software version 8.0, SAS Institute, Cary, NC ; . To compare standardized and nonstandardized preparations, the 2 and Fisher exact tests were used for categorical data. The t test was used for comparing continuous or ordinal data, and Pearson correlation coefficients were used for assessing the association between labeled and measured milligrams. The Mantel-Haenszel 2 was used for comparison of stratified data.
