A spin echo type echo planarimaging sequence was used for PW MRI with repetition time 1500 ms, echo time 30 ms, field of view 240 mm, matrix 128 5 slices with 7 mm thickness, and 60 images in each of the 5 slices. In all experiments, a bolus injection of 12 mL gadodiamide Gd-DTPA-BMA; OMNISCAN, Nycomed Imaging ; was given at 3 mL followed by a 20 saline flush using an MR-compatible power injector. The total imaging time was 90 seconds after initiation of the bolus injection. Immediately after MRI, arterial blood sampling was performed to measure PaCO2, PaO2.

Patent Abstracts John Woodruff The combinations exhibit a synergistic sun protection effect that is greatly enhanced by the polymeric hollow sphere additive. The micronised organic UV absorber is produced by grinding either a triazine, a benzotriazole, a cinnamic acid amide or a sulfonated benzimidazole UV absorber in the presence of an alkyl polyglucoside. Of these methylene bis-benzotriazolyl tetramethylbutylphenol MBBT ; appears to be the preferred compound. The oil-soluble organic UV absorber may be any of those already approved and marketed for cosmetic use. Examples of the microfine inorganic component are given as titanium dioxide coated with aluminium oxide or silicon dioxide, zinc oxide coated with aluminium oxide or silicon dioxide, or mica. The polymeric hollow sphere component is preferably an aqueous dispersion comprising styrene acrylic acid copolymer beads having a particle size below 1 micron, a solids content from 25 to 45%, by weight; a voids volume of 20 to 55%, a mean particle size of 0.1 to 1.5 microns and a wall thickness from 0.02 to 0.5 micron. Alternative suitable hollow sphere materials are copolymers of acrylonitrile with acrylic acid, methacrylic acid, styrene or vinylidene chloride. The sunscreen composition may be formulated as a water-in oil or oil-in-water dispersion, an oil or oil-alcohol lotion, a gel, a solid stick or an aerosol formulation. A base formulation to which various sunscreens and combinations of sunscreens were added is described and the effects on SPF of adding the micronised organic UV absorber and hollow polymeric spheres are shown. The following table shows the improvement in SPF obtained when micronised MBBT and hollow spheres were added to a basic formulation. Involves several Indian dance sequences. We use TBS V2 for instant line tests of the characters doing these very elaborate dance moves. We draw into TBS V2 straight ahead without extremes or sketch planning, making for very loose and organic dance movements, with instant playback. Using Toon Boom Studio V2 allows us to get a much better feeling for the flow and fluidity of the dance than paper-and-pencil line tests. What we end up with are some of the most artful and lovely line tests I've ever seen, done with real spontaneity and inspiration, and in far less time than drawing on paper and line testing with a camera. We were given a very short time to create some animated sequences for a promotional video for the annual international rugby tournament in Hong Kong called Rugby Sevens. Not only was the deadline short, but the client wanted a heavy and rough line style to match the heavy and rough As an experiment, STVDIO character, but in full animation. We animated created a flipbook with TBS traditionally on paper, then brought scans into TBS V2. STVDIO Media Ltd. V2. We were easily able to achieve the desired line quality by inking fast and loose in TBS V2. We got the look we wanted and met the tight deadline thanks to Toon Boom Studio V2. Incidentally, these may be the largest animations ever made with TBS V2: their primary use is to show on giant outdoor screens at rugby and football stadiums in the U.K. and elsewhere in Europe. We have drawn a flipbook using TBS V2 almost exclusively. Very rough pencil animation was scanned and imported into TBS V2. All the inbetweening, cleanup and inking was done in Toon Boom Studios V2. This was meant as an experiment, but it came out beautifully. The pen tools and rotating drawing area made inking pleasurable, and, of course, the onionskinning was essential. Methods. Subjects were divided into two groups asymptomatic or symptomatic ; according to their responses to the Contact Lens Dry Eye Questionnaire CLDEQ ; . Pre-lens break-up time PLBUT ; , limbal and bulbar hyperaemia, corneal staining, LWE, and temporal and nasal LIPCOF were assessed in the right eyes of 61 23M, 38F; age 32, 1 range 18-55 ; experienced contact lens wearers. LWE and LIPCOF were classified using a four grade scale, the further objective signs were classified into four grades, interpolated in 0.1 increments. Differences between groups and relationship between LWE, LIPCOF and objective signs were examined using non-parametric analysis. The predictive values both positive and negative predictive values; PPV and NPV ; of each objective measure for symptoms were calculated. Results. 38 subjects were classified as asymptomatic, 23 symptomatic. LWE and LIPCOF severity scores were significantly increased in symptomatic patients Utest, p 0.03 ; , whilst no significant differences were found between groups for PLBUT, corneal staining or hyperaemia 0.29 p 0.88 ; . The predictive value of LIPCOF temporal ; was 56.9% 77.1% PPV NPV ; , of LIPCOF nasal ; 70.7% 75.0%, and of LWE 53.1% 81.1%. Significant positive correlations were found between LWE and LIPCOF scores temporal r 0.67, p 0.001; nasal r 0.39, p 0.001 ; , and between LWE and hyperaemia bulbar, r 0.28, p 0.001; nasal r 0.36, p 0.001 ; . Conclusions. Contact lens wearers with dryness symptoms exhibit significantly more LWE and LIPCOF, but not corneal staining, bulbar and hyperaemia or decreased PLBUT. In lacrimal acinar cells and other non-excitable cell types, agonist regulation of calcium signaling often involves a mechanism initiated by release of intracellular calcium and a subsequent entry of calcium across the plasma membrane. This entry of calcium is believed to be signaled by the depletion of calcium stores, and has been termed capacitative calcium entry. Recent work from a number of laboratories has highlighted the roles of a Ca2 + sensor protein, Stim 1, and a channel subunit, Orai1. The purpose of this work was to understand the mechanisms by which these two key proteins act to produce calcium entry. Methods. Calcium entry was monitored either by use of intracellular fluorescent Ca2 + indicators, or by measuring membrane currents with the patch-clamp technique. The very Achilles heel of pharmacy as a profession the fact that it behaves as a business for profit is reflected in the location of the seminal figures in pharmaceutical care, not in academic or retail pharmacy, but in hospital pharmacy, beginning with Brodie in 1967, Hepler in 1985 & 1987, and the team of Strand, Cipolle and Morley during the late 1980's Posey 1997 ; . While the influence of hospital pharmacists provided the clinical emphasis in pharmaceutical care, relying strongly on pharmaceutics, it was pharmacy education that Hepler hoped would provide the setting for the transformation of pharmacy as a profession Hepler 1987 ; . As indicated previously, I will begin this chapter by considering the wider landscape of pharmacy education. This brief overview will begin with a glance at the global context, then narrow down to the curriculum of the Bachelor of Pharmacy, in the Faculty of Pharmacy at Rhodes University. Hemodynamic Factors In the present study, we observed an almost threefold 154% ; increase in percent BB + MB ; isoenzymes in hypertensive cardiac hypertrophy but only a 32% increase in nonhypertensive cardiac hypertrophy. Since the extent of hypertrophy was the same in these two models, this difference in the extent of CK isoenzyme shift between hypertensive and nonhypertensive hypertrophy suggests that the mechanical signal of increased blood pressure is instrumental in producing the CK isoenzyme shift observed in hypertensive hypertrophy in this model of pressure overload. The differences in hemodynamic load across the wall of the left ventricle in these two models of hypertrophy probably account for the accentuated response of the endocardial regions.30 Studies on the effect of load on individual myocytes in culture have demonstrated that cell growth can be induced by cell deformation.31 In the present study, the enlargement of endocardial myocytes in nonhypertensive hypertrophy without an accompanying shift in B-containing CK isoenzyme expression supports the hypothesis that cardiac hypertrophy and hypertension are separate, though interrelated, processes. These results are also consistent with the hypothesis that humoral factors contribute to increased cardiac mass9 as well as to changes in gene expression for specific proteins, 32 since total CK decreased and total LDH increased in RVFW as well as in left ventricular regions in nonhypertensive cardiac hypertrophy and echinacea.
