2. Because it has been proposed 4 ; that histidine administration increases histaminergic neuron activity in some patients, it might considered as an experimental treatment in cases of cimetidineinduced encephalopathy.
Suggested White, 1997; Augustine, 2001 ; . Although we cannot exclude changes in the intracellular Ca2 concentrations of local components in the cells during our experiments, our results suggest that the sensitization phenomenon of substance P release from DRG neurons was not proportional to the Ca2 mobilization. Our experimental system using primary cultured DRG neurons is available for studying wholecell events but not for investigating local or single molecule events. Considering that the IP receptor cAMP PKA pathway sensitizes various stimuli, such as capsaicin, KCl Hingtgen and Vasko, 1994 ; , and Lys-bradykinin, it is possible to speculate that a certain common regulatory molecule of the exocytosis mechanism is activated by this pathway. Moreover, a recent study also indicated that an exocytosis regulatory molecule was activated by PKA Foletti et al., 2001 ; . Our present results demonstrate that compound A is a highly selective and potent IP receptor antagonist that inhibits iloprost-induced sensitization of DRG neurons. Therefore, compound A may prove to be a powerful tool for further investigations of IP receptor functions.

Each of the studies was randomized, and all recruited patients after CT exclusion of primary intracerebral hemorrhage. The primary aims of each of the studies fell into 3 groups: 1 ; 5 small trials prospectively assessed the effect of LMWH on the development of DVT Dr E. Lindenstrom, unpublished data, 1991, and References 28 31; 2 ; 2 small phase II studies assessed safety, tolerability, and feasibility of LMWH32, 33; and 3 ; 3 medium-sized phase III trials assessed the safety and efficacy of LMWH.16, 17, 34 LMWHs were administered intravenously in 2 studies, 16, 28 intramuscularly in 1, 32 and subcutaneously in the remaining studies Table 1 ; . Treatment was started within 24 to 72 hours in all but 1 study28 and was given for between 7 and 30 days median and mode 14 days ; . Follow-up ranged between 2 weeks and 6 months. Four studies explicitly excluded patients with presumed cardioembolic stroke Dr E. Lindenstrom, unpublished.
| Nutropin drugRAPID COMMUNICATIONS fluid of women with endometriosis are less than half those in women with tubal disease 16 ; supports this argument. Our finding that cells from women with endometriosis are responsive to LH in vitro suggests that there is not an absolute block to LH action. However, there may be subtle differences in sensitivity to LH that require further study It is interesting to note that P4 production, but not aromatase activity, is acutely responsive to gonadotropins in vitro. It may be that aromatase activity is maximal and refractory to further stimulation at this time 28 ; , or that different time-scales of response are operating at the second messenger level. The levels of aromatase activity are consistently lower in stimulated cycles. Whether this represents a difference in maturity of the granulosa cells or is an effect of GnRH treatment remains to be determined. Our findings have implications for the function of the corpus luteum and the luteal phase secretion of steroids. If granulosa cell P4 remains low after transformation to granulosa-lutein cells? this may explain the findings of luteal phase deficiency indicated by lower serum P? levels 30, 3 1 ; . In conclusion, our results indicate dysfunction of granulosa cell steroidogenesis in minor endometriosis, and provide a possible mechanism to explain the reduced fertilization and luteal phase P4 secretion, and associated subfertility. Over, changes in femoral neck BMD during treatment are similar in magnitude to those for total hip 10, 11 ; . The similarity of the hip and spine findings is also reassuring. Finally, as noted earlier, there are numerous reasons why current BMD methodology may not accurately reflect how changes in bone strength and fracture risk ; are related to measured changes in BMD. As a result, measured BMD changes may underestimate antifracture efficacy even if the mechanism truly depends on increases in BMD. What might one predict over the long term? By the end of 2 yr, one would expect the slowing of bone turnover rate to have exerted its full effect on the number of resorption sites. However, BMD continues to increase beyond 2 years during treatment with alendronate and etidronate, even though turnover marker levels do not continue to decrease progressively beyond 6 to 12 ; months 24, 25 ; . Maintaining low marker levels into the future may not have a progressively greater benefit on fracture risk, compared to placebo. However, maintaining BMD, or increasing it, would be expected to have a progressively larger antifracture benefit with time relative to placebo ; , since the untreated women will tend to lose BMD and bone structure ; progressively. In conclusion, the available data suggest that antiresorptive therapies that produce larger increases in BMD tend to have greater antifracture efficacy. This relationship may have been underestimated due to measurement errors, publication bias, or other factors. Also, one cannot conclude that treatments that produce larger increases in BMD will be efficacious--the effects on bone strength may differ depending on the location and quality of newly formed bone tissue, which may differ between agents. However, the results support the theory that clinically important degrees of antifracture efficacy cannot be attained without an adequate, concomitant increase in BMD and orencia.
